Marko looft Liberty Media: "Positief enthousiasme zonder alcohol en geweld"

In de afgelopen jaren is er zeer veel veranderd in de Formule 1, zowel op als naast de baan. De meeste veranderingen zijn doorgevoerd sinds Liberty Media de sport heeft overgekocht van Bernie Ecclestone. Toch krijgt Liberty regelmatig kritiek op hun beleid maar niet iedereen is het daarmee eens.

Aankomend seizoen gaan er nieuwe reglementen gelden in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Daarnaast gaat er ook een budget cap in met de hoop dat het startveld dichter bij elkaar komt te liggen. Daarnaast speelt Liberty het commerciële spelletje op zeer sterke wijze. Zo is men enige tijd terug een samenwerking aangegaan met streamingsgigant Netflix.

Netflix

Red Bull Racing-adviseur Helmut Marko is heel erg te spreken over deze veranderingen. De Oostenrijker is fan van de budget cap en deelt zijn complimenten met het blad Autorevue: "De Formule 1 gaat echt veel interessanter worden door de naderende budget cap. Daarnaast is er nog het feit dat Liberty Media veel heeft gedaan op het gebied van social media en Netflix."

Positief enthousiasme

Marko merkt dat de sport steeds populairder wordt en ziet dat ook op de circuits. De Oostenrijkers zag zijn coureurs Sergio Perez en Max Verstappen schitteren voor eigen publiek: "Toen ik dat enthousiasme rondom Sergio in Mexico zag, toen kon ik het eigenlijk niet geloven. Dat geldt ook voor Max op Zandvoort. Het is positief enthousiasme, bereikt zonder alcohol en geweld."

wat heeft alcohol daar nou weer mee te maken? Gridgirls verdwenen, vliegshows op de tocht. Nog eventjes en dan wordt het een disneypark

  Hmm de laatste race waar ik bij was was Barcelona 2019. En daar was alleen van dat alcohol vrije spul te krijgen.. Ik dacht dat dat lag aan Barcelona aangezien het jaar ervoor in Hongarije de halve liters nog flink te verkrijgen waren.. Maar gezien dit bericht is alcohol nu helemaal in de ban gedaan bij de F1??

  Ik ken niemand die 5 liter alchohol vrij bier zal drinken op zo’n feestdag. Want een feestje is een GP-bezoek natuurlijk wel. Dat zou de omzet geen goed doen.
