Marko trots na 1-2tje: "Het dashboard van Max viel twee keer uit"

Het team van Red Bull Racing kan terugkijken op een zeer succesvolle laatste kwalificatie van het seizoen. De Oostenrijkse renstal veroverde met Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez de eerste startrij voor de race van morgen. Het resultaat zorgde voor de nodige opluchting bij Helmut Marko.

Verstappen en Perez waren oppermachtig in de kwalificatie op het circuit van Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi. De twee coureurs waren in alle drie de kwalificatiesessies bovenaan de tijdenlijsten te vinden. Verstappen trok uiteindelijk aan het langste eind maar Perez leek bezig met een zeer sterke ronde, hij bedankte de Nederlander na afloop dan ook voor het geleverde teamwork.

Orde

Teamadviseur Helmut Marko was na afloop een opgeluchte man. De Oostenrijker zag alles goed komen en sprak dat dan ook uit bij ServusTV: "De eerste een de tweede plaats! Na ons fiasco van de Braziliaanse Grand Prix zijn we bij dat de oude rangorde weer een feit is. Het dashboard van Max viel tot twee keer toe uit. Hij heeft zich daar echter niet aan gestoord. We hadden ook nog een probleem met de voorvleugel maar als het moet levert Max gewoon!"

De goede kwalificatie en de eerder verzamelde data zorgde er ook voor dat Marko met veel goede moed toeleeft naar de dag van morgen. De Oostenrijker sprak zijn zelfvertrouwen uit: "Wat ons vrolijk stemt zijn onze longruns. We waren bij de bandenslijtage echt duidelijk beter dat Ferrari in de trainingen. Ik hoop dat dit ook het geval blijft op de zondag. We zouden dan ons doel kunnen bereiken. Dat doel is het record voor de meeste zeges in één seizoen en een 1-2tje in het kampioenschap."

Hopelijk is het probleem nu opgelost en komt het in de race niet terug

De onboard camera hield er ook mee op die 2 keer dat Max klaar leek naar buiten te gaan
