Marko snapt niets van vertrek Binotto: "Geweldige engineer"

Het team van Ferrari heeft vanaf aankomende maand een nieuwe teambaas. Men stelde vorige week Frédéric Vasseur aan als opvolger van de vertrokken Mattia Binotto. De exit van Binotto hing al geruime tijd in de lucht, Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko snapt niets van de keuze van Ferrari.

Het team van Ferrari kende dit jaar een lastig seizoen. Ondanks de successen kende men tevens veel tegenslagen. Coureurs Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz kregen regelmatig te maken met betrouwbaarheidsproblemen en tactische misperen. Het kostte Binotto uiteindelijk de kop en vorige week plukte Ferrari Frédéric Vasseur weg bij Alfa Romeo om Binotto op te volgen.

Red Bull Racing-adviseur Helmut Marko snap de keuze van Ferrari niet. De Oostenrijkse adviseur denkt dat Ferrari door de teambazenwissel minder stabiel is geworden. In gesprek met Auto, Motor und Sport spreekt Marko zich uit: "Ik begrijp de verandering niet echt. Ik vind Binotto echt een geweldige engineer en politicus. Deze uitdaging werd hem echter gewoon teveel. Het zou echter al genoeg zijn geweest om hem een sportieve directeur te geven die weet hoe hij hem op de baan moet steunen en weet hoe het zit met de strategieën. Met een nieuwe man, zie ik een zwakker Ferrari."

Ik denk ook dat ze hem beter hadden kunnen ondersteunen en dan was hij wellicht niet weggegaan. Aan de andere kant denk ik dat Binotto al ergens anders een mooie aanbieding op zak heeft en zo de eer aan zichzelf gehouden heeft.

Ik denk ook dat ze hem beter hadden kunnen ondersteunen en dan was hij wellicht niet weggegaan. Aan de andere kant denk ik dat Binotto al ergens anders een mooie aanbieding op zak heeft en zo de eer aan zichzelf gehouden heeft.

  Binotto is net zo goed verliezer. Die is getrouwd geweest met Ferrari en is door een scheiding gegaan die hij niet wilde.
  Financieel zal je gelijk hebben denk ik. Maar ik benader het meer vanuit het gevoel.

  Ik zeg ook niet dat Binotto ook geen verliezer is ;-)
  Maar hij komt wel weer makkelijk aan de bak. Voor Ferrari wordt een goede vervanger (voor de engineering afdeling) vinden heel wat moeilijker ben ik bang...
