Marko vreest stevigere concurrentie van Mercedes dan van Ferrari

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende vorig jaar een zeer sterk seizoen. De Oostenrijkse renstal werd met Max Verstappen wereldkampioen en claimde zelf de constructeurstitel. Men verwacht dat ze komend seizoen meer concurrentie zullen krijgen van Mercedes en Ferrari. Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko vreest vooral Mercedes.

Red Bull was afgelopen seizoen regelmatig haast onverslaanbaar. Max Verstappen won in totaal vijftien Grands Prix en dat deed hij met enige regelmaat op ijzersterke wijze. Red Bull kreeg afgelopen seizoen tevens veel concurrentie van Ferrari en in een later stadium ook Mercedes. Red Bull was Ferrari echter vaak te slim af en profiteerde tevens van de betrouwbaarheidsproblemen en tactische blunders van de Italiaanse concurrentie.

Red Bull Racing-adviseur Helmut Marko verwacht dat zijn team komend seizoen veel concurrentie zal gaan krijgen van Ferrari en Mercedes. De Oostenrijker heeft echter wisselde verwachtingen van de twee renstallen. In gesprek met Motorsport.com is Marko duidelijk: "Ik zou zeggen dat we meer moeten vrezen voor Mercedes. We moeten dat vooral gaan doen omdat ze een voordeel hebben ten opzichte van Ferrari op het gebied van strategie en betrouwbaarheid."

      Ik zie exact dezelfde quote terug van exact dezelfde schrijvert in zijn bericht gepubliceerd op 05 jan 2023 08:23 met als kop Marko knipoogt naar Mercedes: "Daar hadden wij geen budget meer voor".

      Oorspromkelijk komt de quote en de herhaling van vandaag uit een origineel artikel op meuteurspeurtdeutceum van 4 januari.

      Dat artikel sloot af met een citaat van Max Verstappen:
      Verstappen wil in deze fase nog geen voornaamste tegenstander aanwijzen en dus niet kiezen tussen Ferrari en Mercedes. Wel echoot hij de woorden van Marko dat de tegenstand heviger zal zijn.
      "Het zal komend jaar dichter bij elkaar zitten. Dit reglement is nog altijd relatief nieuw en daardoor is er veel ruimte voor doorontwikkeling. Ik denk dat teams de auto's steeds beter begrijpen en het daardoor dichter bij elkaar komt", liet de wereldkampioen op een vraag weten.
