Marko geeft toe dat Red Bull motorenspecialist Mercedes wilde aantrekken

Het team van Red Bull Racing is op de achtergrond al geruime tijd bezig met het opzetten van hun motorproject Red Bull Powertrains. De Oostenrijkse renstal heeft al meerdere keren laten weten dat alles naar wens gaat en Helmut Marko laat ook weten dat men achter een belangrijke Mercedes-pion aanzat.

Aangezien Honda officieel gezien geen motorleverancier meer is voor Red Bull, moest men voor de toekomst op zoek naar een nieuwe oplossing. Tot en met 2025 worden de krachtbronnen nog wel gebouwd door Honda, maar daarna moet Red Bull op eigen benen gaan staan. Samen met Ford is het team bezig om voor 2026 nieuwe krachtbronnen te ontwikkelen en daarvoor zoekt men de best mogelijke mensen.

Audi

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko geeft toe dat men hard op zoek is naar de beste mensen in de sector. De Oostenrijker geeft aan dat ze ook op voormalig Mercedes-kopstuk Andy Cowell jaagden. Bij Formel1.de is Marko duidelijk: "Het gaat nogal goed met het werven van personeel, het optimale niveau is echter nog niet bereikt. We zitten er niet ver vanaf, maar we hebben met Audi een nieuwe concurrent en dat maakt dit proces intensiever."

Groene kant

Cowell was dus één van de mensen waar Red Bull achteraan zat. Marko moet echter toegeven dat de gesprekken niet tot een deal hebben geleid. De Oostenrijkse adviseur van Red Bull is er eerlijk over: "Andy Cowell is een Britse man die niet zover van Milton Keynes woont, dus we hebben natuurlijk ook met hem gesproken. Hij heeft nu echter interesses ontwikkeld voor iets anders, Vettel heeft dat ook gedaan. Hij wil veel meer de groene kant op gaan."
