Marko lacht om Aston Martin-geruchten: "Dat is pure waanzin"

Het team van Aston Martin maakt vooralsnog veel indruk in de Formule 1. De Britse renstal lijkt de voornaamste uitdager te zijn van Red Bull Racing en ze lijken dan ook over de beste onderdelen te beschikken. Volgens geruchten hebben ze zelfs de beste Mercedes-motoren gekregen, Helmut Marko gelooft daar niets van.

Het team van Mercedes is bezig met een lastige start van het huidige Formule 1-seizoen. De Duitse formatie heeft wederom een grote achterstand op de concurrentie. Klantenteam Aston Martin is dus bezig met een sterk seizoen en volgens meerdere geruchten zouden ze de beschikking hebben gekregen over de best mogelijke krachtbronnen.

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko heeft deze geruchten ook gehoord, de Oostenrijker gelooft er echter geen snars van. Marko kan er eigenlijk alleen maar om lachen. In gesprek met F1-Insider is de teamadviseur er nogal duidelijk over: "Waarom zou Mercedes een concurrent sneller gaan maken? Dat is echt pure waanzin! Ondanks deze samenwerking blijft Aston Martin gewoon een concurrent van Mercedes, ook op het gebied van de straatauto's. Bovendien schrijven de regels voor dat de motorleveranciers iedereen gelijkwaardig materiaal moeten bieden. Volgensmij houdt iedereen zich daar netjes aan."
