Marko denkt niet aan stoppen: "Ik heb niet het idee dat ik een oude man ben"

Helmut Marko is al sinds jaar en dag één van de belangrijkste mensen bij Red Bull Racing. De teamadviseur gaat over het talentenprogramma en de invulling van de stoeltjes van Red Bull en AlphaTauri. Hij is al 80 jaar oud, maar hij denkt nog niet aan stoppen. Hij geeft aan dat hij zich nog fit genoeg voelt voor de job.

Marko heeft zijn mening in de afgelopen jaren flink laten horen. De ervaren Oostenrijker was onder meer verantwoordelijk voor de komst van Max Verstappen en Sebastian Vettel. Marko is niet bang voor belangrijke keuzes en besloot eerder dit jaar Nyck de Vries te ontslaan bij het team van AlphaTauri. Aangezien Marko al aardig op leeftijd is en er geruchten waren over een mindere band met de huidige bazen, wordt er gesproken over een mogelijke pensionering. 

Marko moet daar echter niets van weten. Hij wil nog zo lang mogelijk doorgaan met zijn job en hij trekt zich niets aan van de kritiek. In gesprek met Motorsport-Magazin blijft hij strijdbaar: "Zolang ik mentaal en fysiek fit ben, ik gefascineerd en enthousiast ben over de sport en ik deze verantwoordelijkheden mag behouden, zal ik blijven doorgaan. Ik heb niet het idee dat ik een oude man ben die het allemaal niet meer kan bijhouden. Zolang ik maar een positieve bijdrage kan leveren, dat is het belangrijkste."

      Ik heb laatst wat geluisterd van hem wat ging over zijn activiteiten thuis. Die man is dan gewoon ook entrepreneur. Heeft een hotelketen. Is zier actief in kunst.
      Bijzonder eigenlijk.

      Velen hier roepen al jaren dat hij zijn spullen moet pakken vooral als er een coureur aan de kant is geschoven maar ik snap eigenlijk niet zo goed waarom , zolang Red Bull titels wint en ze allemaal blij zijn is er geen noodzaak.

    Alleen maar mooi, met dingen actief zijn en betrokken is denk ik heel gezond, mentaal en fysiek. Mn vader, ook 80 ontwerpt ook nog steeds. Niet omdat het moet, maar gewoon omdat het zijn leven en passie is. Reist nog veel en is zo scherp als een mes. Ziet er wel een stukje jonger uit dan Marko trouwens, maar dat ligt gewoon aan de goede genen :)

    Hoop ook niet dat hij stopt! Max is zijn oogappeltje. Toch het F1 vadertje van, als ik Max zie hoe hij hem steeds omhelst na elke overwinning. Vind ik wel mooi.

    Ik ben geen Redbull-fan, maar wat gunde ik die ouwe gek het kampioenschap in 2021.

    Gewoon doorgaan Helmut, totdat de man met de zeis voor de deur staat......en dan nog maken dat je weg komt.

      Hij heeft in het verleden wel bewezen over snelheid te beschikken, daar is heus nog wel wat van aanwezig. Magere Hein is al veel ouder, en geen ex coureur voor zover ik weet.

      Ja. Ik schaam me voor deze extreem slechte grap. Marko wordt verguisd door veel anti's. Maar wat dwingt die respect af. Ik las trouwens over je goede genen. Dat is mooi meegenomen. Waarschijnlijk is hij ook zeer positief van geest? Ik hou van dat soort types moet ik zeggen. Klagers genoeg op de wereld.

      Bij ons in de familie zitten ook extreem goede genen. Alleen treffen die vooral de vrouwen van de familie Snailer. Ik heb foto's gezien van mijn tantes toen ze nog jong waren. Ik kan alleen maar wow zeggen. Ditto met al mijn nichten. Stuk voor stuk beauties. Mijn zus en mij dochter ook. Het is een zegen en geen verdienste. Maar er iets mee doen is duidelijk wel een verdienste. Geniet er van!

    Logisch, Red Bull zit in een super flow. Er staat een geweldig team en Marko geniet van de resultaten. Dat geeft enorm veel energie. Zoiets wil je tot het einde beleven. Iedere eace zie je hem glunderen.
