Marko baalt niet van mislopen pole position: "Beter voor de sfeer in Italië"

Max Verstappen start de Italiaanse Grand Prix morgen vanaf de tweede plaats. In de kwalificatie was Verstappen net iets langzamer dan Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz. Verstappen kon wel leven met de uitslag en ook Helmut Marko was niet teleurgesteld. Hij denkt dat het een goede zaak is voor Italië.

Red Bull Racing is dit jaar bezig met een extreem sterk seizoen in de Formule 1. Tot nu toe zijn alle Grands Prix gewonnen door Red Bull-coureurs Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez. In Italië werd Red Bull voor de derde keer verslagen in de kwalificatie, de aanwezige Tifosi konden daar om juichen. Hun 'eigen' Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz greep de pole position in een weekend waar hij zeer goed voor de dag komt.

Sainz beseft zich echter ook dat de punten pas morgen worden verdeeld. De Spanjaard houdt voor de race rekening met Verstappen en Red Bull. Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko liet in gesprek met ORF weten dat hij niet baalt van het mislopen van de pole: "De eerste startrij is altijd goed, onze kracht ligt toch in de race. Voor de sfeer in Italië is dit ook het beste. We wisten dat Ferrari sterk zou zijn, daar hadden we ons al op voorbereid. We gingen met onze set-up niet per se voor de pole, het is belangrijker dat we goed zijn in de race."

Inderdaad, je gooit er een l.l verhaal tegenaan om geen straf uit te delen, en iedereen die het gewoon pikt…..
Elk ander team had gewoon drie plaatsen gridstraf gekregen.
Regels stellen, en ze niet nakomen……..FIA ten voeten uit.

Voor de sfeer in Italie is het beste als Ferrari de pole pakt en geen straffen krijgt voor vermeende overtredingen.

  Misschien is dit het enige succes wat Ferrari mag vieren dit seizoen, en dat feestje wil je ze dan natuurlijk niet afnemen, zeker niet in ItaIië.

  nee hoor, Ferrari terecht vrijgesproken. Leclerc zn overtreding zat ook geen eens in een inlap. De inlap wordt wel specifiek genoemd in de regel al is het misschien niet 100% duidelijk of het alleen voor inlaps geldt. Iig is de regel niet bedacht om teams en coureurs dwars te zitten, maar voor een ordelijk verloop van de kwalificatie. In dit geval kwam het wel een beetje in conflict met die andere regel dat je voor snellere coureurs aan de kant moet gaan. Dan moet je dus die extra regel wel wat flexibeler toepassen. Prima uitgevoerd zo.
