Steun voor Marko in Perez-kwestie: "Hij provoceert graag"

Helmut Marko zorgde eerder deze maand voor veel ophef in Mexico. De Red Bull-adviseur sprak zich op onhandige wijze uit over de focus van Sergio Perez. Marko ging diep door het stof, maar in Mexico is men nog steeds woeden. Hij krijgt nu echter steun uit onverwachte hoek.

Marko zorgde daags na de Italiaanse Grand Prix voor een enorme rel. De Oostenrijkse teamadviseur sprak zich uit over Red Bull-coureur Sergio Perez. Hij probeerde zijn punt te maken, maar hij gebruikte daarbij de term 'Zuid-Amerikaan'. In Mexico was men woest dat Marko iemands afkomst koppelt aan prestaties. Marko ging diep door het stof en hij bood tweemaal zijn excuses aan. Desalniettemin waren veel Mexicanen nog steeds boos.

Maar, niet iedereen in Mexico is boos op Marko. De Oostenrijker krijgt steun van een grote naam in de Zuid-Amerikaanse autosport. De populaire commentator Fernando Tornillo verdedigt Marko in gesprek met Esto: "De Mexicaanse fans moeten wat Marko heeft gezegd met een glimlach accepteren. Ze kunnen niet alles wat hij zegt zo opblazen. Hij provoceert nu eenmaal graag. Wat hij echt doet, is het motiveren van de coureurs. Hij is alleen wel een harde man. Hij doet dit om de coureurs te porren, zodat ze beter presteren. Ik denk dat dit is waarom hij dit over Checo zei."

      Bij de 1 werkt het bij de ander niet. Van Basten vertelde ooit dat hij gek werd van Cruijf omdat hij altijd kritiek op hem had. Het motiveerde hem wel om het tegendeel te bewijzen ondanks dat hij al zo goed was. Hierdoor werd hij beter en beter. Je kan 2 dingen doen met kritiek: Het tegendeel bewijzen of er verslagen bij gaan zitten.

    hehe. Zei ik ook al eerder: Hopelijk voelt Perez dit als een prikkel en uitdaging om het tegendeel te bewijzen. i.p.v. 'schande' te roepen en achterover te leunen en wachten op excuses....

      Perez gaat in 2024 weer vol voor de titel las ik net. Dus der Helmut heeft op slinkse wijze zijn Zuid-Amerikaanse stercoureur tot op het bot weten te motiveren met zijn uitspraak, het is alleen enorm teleurstellend (lees kortzichtig!) dat er een bull boze Zuid-Amerikanen zijn die daar totaal geen oog voor hebben.

    Het gekke vind ik dat Marko juist probeerde om Perez te beschermen, zijn presteren tov Max te relativeren. Het was (deze keer) juist vriendelijk bedoeld.

    Zeer onhandig gedaan, en daarbij de 2 kampen tegenstanders (team lh44 en Checo Checo Checo crowd) mooie munitie gegeven maar juist in de kern niet slecht bedoeld. Niemand die dat punt aanvoert.
