Marko genoot van Perez-duel: "Dat was fascinerend!"

Max Verstappen bezorgde het team van Red Bull Racing gisteren de zoveelste zege in het huidige seizoen. Na afloop ging het echter vooral over het duel van zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez. De Mexicaan vocht een geweldig duel uit met Fernando Alonso en Helmut Marko genoot.

Alonso en Perez vochten in de slotfase van de race een episch duel uit om de derde plaats. Alonso had deze positie vrijwel de hele tijd vast, maar Perez kwam steeds dichter en dichter bij. De Spanjaard hield het hoofd koel en hij wist vrijwel elke aanval van Perez te neutraliseren. In de laatste paar rondjes kwam Perez er uiteindelijk wel langs, maar Alonso zag een gaatje en hij ging ervoor. Hij had een minuscule voorsprong en Perez was verslagen.

Ongelooflijk

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko genoot van het duel tussen de twee coureurs. Na afloop werd de Oostenrijker door de Duitse tak van Sky Sports gevraagd naar Max Verstappen, maar hij veranderde snel van onderwerp: "Max was vooraan soeverein, maar het gevecht tussen Perez en Alonso was fascinerend. Ongelooflijk! Die positiewisselingen en die tactische jacht, met het opladen van de baterijen enzo! Dat was echt het allermooist!"

Perez werd uiteindelijk wel verslagen, maar Marko maakte zich daar niet zo druk om. De Oostenrijker wilde niet echt antwoord geven op de vraag van wat Perez beter kon doen: "Dat is allemaal achteraf praten. De fout was dat Checo niet goed uit bocht drie kwam en later een kleine beweging maakte op het rechte stuk, maar goed het was ongelooflijk! Sinds Mexico klopt het tempo van Checo, zowel in de kwalificatie als in de race. Hij heeft nu een solide voorsprong van dertig punten op Lewis, dus nu kunnen we uit gaan van de tweede plaats."

Alonso wist telkens net een fractie meer snelheid het rechte stuk mee op te nemen waardoor Perez telkens net een beetje tekort kwam. Verder genoten van deze 2 rijders. Alonso met afstand m'n DOTD, en Perez moet gezegd worden reed eindelijk weer een fijne race, lekker agressief in het duel met Fernando. Lijkt de 2e plek weer wat steviger in handen te hebben.

Wat ik alleen niet begrijp is waarom Perez rond na ronde dezelfde lijnen bleef rijden. Heeft volgens mij niet een creatieve poging gedaan om een keer iets anders te proberen.

  Precies. Dat vroeg ik me ook af. Je zag Alonso heel andere lijnen rijden waardoor die met meer snelheid de boog uit kwam en daardoor telkens net voldoende afstand had om Perez voor te blijven . Alleen de laatste paar rondjes ging Perez ook andere lijnen uitproberen. De eerste pogingen gingen niet goed maar uiteindelijk leverde het hem wel een geslaagde inhaal poging op. Maar de sluwe vos Alonso pakte de plek weer mooi terug. Door een inimini klein foutje van Checo. Maar Perez had wel goed opgelet want hij kwam op de finishlijn op een fractie na. Alonso. Was er nog een ronde geweest had hij dus ook in deze ronde met Alonso weer ingehaald. Wat aangeeft dat hij uiteindelijk wel wat heeft gedaan veranderd.
  
  Blijft alleen nog de vraag waarom hij pas zo laat iets anders ging proberen

  Dat is het verschil tussen een goede coureur en een topcoureur. De laatste heeft ook in een duel denkcapaciteit over en kan de aanpak wijzigen.

Ik vond het echt geweldig om naar te kijken. Als ik bij de leiding van RB zat toch wat minder moet ik zeggen. Wederom geen podium voor Checo. Ze verdienen elkaars auto zullen we maar zeggen.
