Marko wil Las Vegas niet afkraken: "Ik ga alles rustig bekijken"

De Grand Prix van Las Vegas keert dit weekend terug op de Formule 1-kalender. Het belooft een groot spektakel te worden, maar nog niet iedereen is enthousiast. Helmut Marko wil er nog niet te veel over zeggen, maar hij wil zich graag laten verrassen door de organisatie.

De race in Las Vegas belooft een enorm spektakelstuk te worden. De hype rondom de Grand Prix is groot, maar men verwacht ook een grote show. De Amerikanen hebben allerlei plannetjes gemaakt, zo organiseren ze een launchparty, is er weer een voorstelrondje en ook de gloednieuwe Sphere is afgehuurd. Niet iedereen is fan, want het circuit zelf oogt allesbehalve moeilijk. Er zijn immers vooral veel zeer lange rechte stukken.

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko wil de race niet direct afkraken. De normaal zo uitgesproken Oostenrijker reist met een open blik af naar Las Vegas en daar zal hij wel zien wat er gaat gebeuren. In gesprek met OE24 wordt Marko gevraagd of hij een fan is van de race: "Ik ben niet helemaal de juiste persoon om hier iets over te zeggen. Maar, we moeten dit evenement vol met glamour een kans geven. Ik zag alles eens rustig gaan bekijken en daarna zal ik je mijn mening over dit onderwerp gaan geven."

Tsjah. Ik denk dat ik ook hiet een uitzondering ben. Chaos door ravage vind ik heel vaak geen leuke races. Ook al gebeurt het dan soms dat er een vreemde uitslag volgt.

    Ik zag gisteren een promofilm van mercedes die was opgenomen op het circuit. Een pareltje hoe die gemaaktt was met drones. Als dit de opmaat is naar meer qua spektakel kijk ik er nasr uit.

      Voor mij zijn toch de races het mooist waar de sterkste rijders in de beste auto's met elkaar knokken om de prijzen. Daarom vind ik dit seizoen niet slecht. Even buiten P1 is er erg veel strijd geweest en zijn er ook mooie gevechten te zien geweest.

      Zelf hoop ik vooral dat de beperkte grip die er waarschijnlijk is niet voor chaos zorgt. Maar wel voor nivellering van de wagens. Dan komen namelijk de beste rijders boven drijven. Helaas vrees ik wel dat de rechte stukken te veel een rol gaan spelen. Zeker die langzame bochten na de rechte stukken. Dat gaat bij veel rijders voor problemen zorgen bij het remmen.

    Great minds think alike, was mijn gedachte namelijk ook... ben wel benieuwd of de rechte stukken voor dubbele inhaalacties gaan zorgen... te snel voorbij iemand gaan en die komt er voor de volgende bocht weer voorbij dan.

    De teams komen hier voor het geld. Miljoenen aan merchandise en veel exposure wat nog meer geld opgeleverd. Dus als leiding wil je zo snel mogelijk dat geld binnen harken, zo veel mogelijk shinen met je brand, koffers pakken en weer wegwezen. En als iemand wat vraagt op je lip bijten dus..
