Marko onthult slimme reden achter dubbele rookie-training

Aankomend weekend komen er in Abu Dhabi veel rookies in actie tijdens de vrije trainingen. Ook constructeurskampioen Red Bull Racing kiest ervoor om jongelingen in te zetten. Ze gaan echter wel een stapje verder dan de andere teams, want ze zetten twee rookies in. Volgens Helmut Marko heeft dit een groot voordeel.

Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez slaan aankomende vrijdag in Abu Dhabi allebei de eerste vrije training over. Op het circuit van Yas Marina zullen Isack Hadjar en Jake Dennis plaatsnemen in hun auto's. In de tweede vrije training nemen Verstappen en Perez dan weer plaats in hun wagens. Red Bull moet wel twee rookies inzetten, want ze hebben nog geen enkele keer een jongeling ingezet tijdens dit seizoen.

Jetlag

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko merkt dat veel van zijn mensen zeer moe zijn. De Oostenrijker onthult dat het reisschema zijn de medewerkers van zijn team zeer slopend is. Vanuit Las Vegas vliegt vrijwel iedereen door naar de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten en Marko legt het uit bij Servus TV: "Veel van onze mensen vliegen via Europa naar Abu Dhabi, of nee, naar Dubai. Of toch naar Abu Dhabi? Ik ben nu al helemaal in de war! Er is een tijdsverschil van twaalf uur en je moet ervoor zorgen dat je helemaal van je jetlag af bent en scherp bent."

Vermoeidheid

Ook Verstappen en Perez moeten dus weer helemaal scherp aan de start verschijnen in Abu Dhabi. Verstappen gaf eerder al aan dat hij heel moe is en dat het een uitdaging is om weer messcherp te worden. Marko deelt dan ook dat de keuze voor de rookie-trainingen niet uit de lucht is komen vallen: "We waren ons daarvan bewust en daarom zetten we op vrijdag dan ook twee rookies in de auto's."

Ligt het nu aan mij of zijn ze de uitleg van die slimme reden er vergeten in het artikel te plakken??? Of is het slimmigheidje dat Max en Sergio vrijdagochtend kunnen uitslapen of zo?

  De VT1 begint daar pas om 13:30u en zaterdag is de jetlag als sneeuw voor de zon verdwenen tijdens VT3 om 14.30u. Smoesjes dus van Marko.
  Alle teams hebben tot de laatste GP gewacht met een rookie behalve SAT.

  Die twee stappen dus bij VT2 zo fris in de auto dat de rest van het veld wel naar huis kan gaan. Slim van die ouwe Helmut. Mij benieuwen wat hij volgende jaar weer z'n hoge hoed aan slimme dingen tovert.

  Perez slaat vt1 over om in de laatste ronde ook nog fit en scherp te zijn.
  Max doet hetzelfde om dat (de reden waarom Perez vt1 niet rijdt) te camoufleren...
