Esteban Gutierrez put moed uit optreden in Singapore

Sauber-coureur Esteban Gutierrez is vol vertrouwen dat hij dit weekend in Zuid-Korea kan voortborduren op zijn goede weekend in Singapore. Daar bereikte hij voor het eerst Q3 en leek hij op koers voor zijn eerste punt(en), maar met versleten achterbanden kon hij een klassering in de top tien niet over de streep trekken. Maar de Mexicaan heeft zich eindelijk laten zien.

Gutierrez is direct hoopvol gestemd voor de resterende races in 2013, te beginnen in Zuid-Korea. "Het is een krachtig gevoel, daar heb je wat aan voor de toekomst", begint hij tegenover Autosport. "Als je zo'n ronde in de kwalificatie kan rijden, dan til je jezelf naar een hoger niveau en daar kan je verder op bouwen. Misschien zijn we niet op elk circuit zo sterk in de kwalificatie, maar het is wel van belang om onszelf uit te dagen om dit punt te verbeteren."

"Natuurlijk was het balen dat ik mezelf niet kon belonen met een finish in de punten, maar je doet altijd je best en ik heb in de race alles gegeven. Je wil steeds de volgende stap zetten, progressie boeken en dat is gekoppeld aan ervaring. De race was weer een stap voor mij en ik ben vastberaden om die lijn de komende Grands Prix door te trekken."
