Sauber doemt op in achteruitkijkspiegel van Force India

Force India koesterde niet zo lang geleden nog de ambitie om in de top vijf bij de constructeurs te eindigen, maar inmiddels is zelfs de zesde plek in gevaar. Sauber is aan een opmars bezig. De Zwitserse renstal verzamelde in de afgelopen vier races maar liefst 38 punten.

Force India weet wel waar Sauber dat aan te danken heeft. De tussentijdse invoering van nieuwe banden door Pirelli laat zijn sporen na. Force India-directeur Otmar Szafnauer foetert in Blick: "Dit is niet het wonder van Sauber. Het is puur aan Pirelli toe te schrijven. Dat is de volledige verklaring voor deze situatie."

Bij Sauber is men vooral blij dat Esteban Gutierrez in Japan eindelijk zijn eerste bijdrage aan het puntentotaal leverde. Teambaas Monisha Kaltenborn vertelde aan Auto Motor und Sport: "Iets in hem is geëxplodeerd. Maar individuele resultaten zijn niet bepalend in onze beslissingen voor de toekomst. We hebben wat opties, maar we gaan geen namen noemen."
