Lynn loopt zonder te winnen uit op concurrent Stanaway

Alex Lynn heeft dit weekend geen zege geboekt in de GP3 op Monza. De Brit was in de hoofdrace op zaterdag als zesde geëindigd en trok op zondagochtend in een zinderend duel met Dean Stoneman aan het kortste eind. Maar Lynn hoefde niet te winnen om een grote stap richting de titel te zetten.

Zijn naaste belager Richie Stanaway beleefde namelijk een minder weekend. De Nieuw-Zeelander wist alleen in de wedstrijd op zaterdag wat puntjes te sprokkelen. Door technische problemen viel hij in race 2 uit terwijl hij afstevende op wat punten. Lynn heeft nu vijftig punten voorsprong met nog twee weekenden te gaan.

Op de derde plek in de tussenstand is Jimmy Eriksson terug te vinden. De Zweed was aan het begin van dit seizoen de voornaamste concurrent van Lynn, maar hij belandde in een dip. Met zijn zege in race 1 op Monza maakte hij een einde aan een reeks van zeven races waarin hij slechts zeven punten scoorde.
