Opnieuw pech voor Van der Zande: "Dit is echt belachelijk"

Na een fantastische kwalificatie op het bloedsnelle Monza leek Renger van der Zande op weg naar een uitstekend resultaat, tot de versnellingsbak het begaf, met nog vijf ronden te gaan. Het is het zoveelste pechgeval voor Renger, die er moedeloos van wordt.

Renger was na de race België eigenlijk wel klaar met de GP3, maar kwam in Monza toch zijn contractuele verplichtingen na door te starten in het laatste GP3-evenement van het jaar. De auto van Renger komt al het hele seizoen flink wat topsnelheid te kort, dus in Monza leek de Nijmegenaar weinig te kunnen beginnen. Echter, in de kwalificatie toonde hij maar weer eens zijn sluwheid, door de auto dankzij een geweldige slipstream op de eerste startrij te zetten. In de race hanteerde hij eenzelfde techniek, die hem een podiumplaats leek op te leveren. De pechduivel stak echter opnieuw de kop op.

"De kwalificatie ging fantastisch", zei Renger. "En in de race had ik een mooi gevecht met Gutierrez, die later de race zou winnen. Dankzij de slipstream kon ik goed meekomen en had ik gewoon een gave race. Maar met nog vijf ronden te gaan kwam er een abrupt einde aan, toen de versnellingsbak kapot ging. Het is de zoveelste keer dat er iets stuk gaat, het is echt belachelijk."

wel een vraagske: is het ni gp2 of gp3 dat v/d garde rijd? Omdat in 1 berichtje gp2 staat, in een ander gp3
