2016 het laatste jaar van Citroën in WTCC

Citroën trekt zich na volgend seizoen terug uit het World Touring Car Championship. Het Franse merk focust zich vanaf 2017 volledig op het World Rally Championship. Volgend seizoen brengt Citroën twee auto's aan de start in het WTCC, die Jose Maria Lopez en Yvan Müller zullen bemannen.

Na drie jaar komt er voor Citroën een einde aan een succesvol WTCC-programma. Citroën Racing-teambaas Yves Matton: "We zijn vastberaden om onze titels in 2016 met hand en tand te verdedigen en het WTCC met een nieuw hoogtepunt vaarwel te zeggen."

"Het fabrieksteam zal uit twee auto's bestaan. Met de komst van een nieuwe autofabrikant in de vorm van Volvo belooft het een interessant seizoen te worden. Lopez en Müller zijn eraan gewend om met elkaar samen te werken en het belang van het team voorop te stellen."
