Volvo vertrouwt op een Zweedse line-up

Polestar Cyan Racing, het team waarmee Volvo volgend jaar zijn rentree in het World Touring Car Championship maakt, heeft de line-up voor 2016 bekend gemaakt. Met Thed Björk en Fredrik Ekblom hebben ze voor twee Zweden gekozen. Björk veroverde dit jaar de titel in het Zweeds toerwagenkampioenschap, met Ekblom als voornaamste rivaal.

Polestar-motorsportbaas Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin: "We hebben een ideale line-up geformeerd met Thed en Fredrik voor ons eerste seizoen terug in het WTCC. Beiden zijn solide op gebied van pure snelheid en stuurmanskunsten. Bovendien zijn ze goed op elkaar ingespeeld en liggen ze op één lijn met onze engineers, wat onze inhaalslag ten opzichte van de snelste in deze klasse voorspoedig te laten verlopen."
