'Huff maakt overstap naar Honda'

Lada-coureur Rob Huff zal aanstaand seizoen uitkomen voor Honda in de WTCC. Het nieuws is nog niet bevestigd, maar volgens motorsport.com zou de kampioen van 2012 gaan rijden in de derde Honda naast Tiago Monteiro en Norbert Michelisz. Huff rijdt sinds 2014 voor Lada en scoorde twee overwinningen voor het Russische merk.

Volgens dezelfde berichtgeving zou Huff inmiddels al een contract hebben getekend om uit te komen voor Honda JAS Motorsport in een Honda Civic. De Brit heeft al eerder kennisgemaakt met de Honda, namelijk vorig seizoen in Macau waar hij uiteindelijk won. Honda maakte eerder deze week bekend dat de Italiaan Gabriele Tarquini niet langer zal racen voor het Japanse merk. Tarquini zou volgens eigen zeggen te oud bevonden zijn om langer voor Honda in het WTCC te mogen racen.

Gevraagd naar een reactie op de geruchten, meldt de manager van Huff het volgende: "Ik heb hier geen commentaar op. Het enige wat ik je kan vertellen dat we de overeenkomst met Lada nog niet verlengd hebben. Dat deze geruchten er nu zijn, betekent niet dat we ook al ergens getekend hebben. Het is dat dat Rob Huff volgend seizoen op de grid staan, alleen weten we nog niet in welke auto en voor welk team."
