Rob Huff verhuist voor 2016 naar Honda

De World Touring Car Championship-tak van Honda heeft een slag geslagen op de transfermarkt. Rob Huff komt over van Lada om Gabriele Tarquini op te volgen. Huff veroverde in 2012 zijn tot nu toe enige titel in het WTCC met een Chevrolet Cruze. In 2016 bestuurt de Brit een Honda Civic.

Honda verlengde het contract van Tiago Monteiro. Het Japanse merk zet komend seizoen een derde fabrieksauto in voor Norbert Michelisz. JAS Motorsport zal de wagen voor de Hongaar prepareren en runnen. Daarmee zet Honda de jacht in op het in de WTCC ongenaakbare Citroën.

Huff: "De afgelopen jaren ben ik er gewend aan geraakt om een Honda Civic voor me te zien, dus het is mooi dat ik er nu zelf mee aan de slag mag. Mijn carrière is niet geslaagd als ik straks stop als eenmalig kampioen en met Honda en JAS heb ik een geweldige kans om die statistiek te corrigeren."
