Jordi Gene gediskwalificeerd, Tarquini winnaar van eerste race

Jordi Gene heeft zijn overwinning uit de eerste race op Zolder alweer kunnen inleveren. De wedstrijdleiding van het WTCC heeft besloten om Gene uit zowel de eerste als de tweede race te diskwalificeren, omdat zijn SEAT niet aan de reglementen voldeed.

Gene kreeg na afloop van de eerste race al een waarschuwing omdat hij bij de start iets eerder over de startlijn reed dan polesitter Gabriele Tarquini. Gene behield zijn overwinning wel. Echter, na de tweede race moeten alle auto's door de technische keuring en daarbij gign het mis voor Gene.

Zijn SEAT werd niet goedgekeurd, omdat zijn lucht restrictor niet volgens de reglementen zou zijn. Hierdoor heeft de organisatie besloten om Gene uit beide races te schrappen, waardoor hij zijn overwinning ook kwijt is. Tarquini krijgt hierdoor de zege in handen, terwijl nu beide Chevrolet-coureurs Yvan Muller en Alain Menu op het podium eindigen. Tom Coronel krijgt alsnog het laatste puntje uit de eerste race met de achtste plaats.
