Honda uit uitslag van vorige races geschrapt

De stewards van het World Touring Car Championship hebben besloten om Honda en Zengo Motorsport de punten die ze in de rondes in Marokko en Hongarije gescoord te ontnemen. Uit nadere bestudering bleek de Honda Civic niet aan de Technische Reglementen te voldoen.

De 'platte vloer', oftewel flat floor, van de Honda's kwam niet overeen met het aangeleverde onderdeel voor de homologatie. Norbert Michelisz, Rob Huff, Tiago Monteiro en Ferenc Ficza zijn uit de uitslagen van de races in Marrakech en op de Hungaroring geschrapt.

Honda heeft aangegeven in beroep te willen gaan. In een verklaring stelt de Japanse autofabrikant: "Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat onze bodemplaten volledig conform de in het WTCC geldende Technische Reglementen zijn. Daarom gaan we in beroep tegen deze beslissing."
