Lopez wint ook hoofdrace Nordschleife

Na de overwinning in de eerste race enigzins cadeau te hebben gekregen, heeft Jose Maria Lopez ook de tweede race op de beroemde en beruchte Nordschleife in de Duitse Eiffel gewonnen. Lopez had in de hoofdrace het meeste te duchten van Norbert Michelisz. Tom Coronel kon vanwege zijn crash in de eerste race niet starten, Nick Catsburg werd in de Lada keurig zesde.

Bij de start was polesitter Michelisz het beste weg. Het duurde echter niet lang voordat Lopez de leiding over kon nemen. In de Schumacer S passeerde Lopez Michelisz aan de buitenkant. Lopez wist een voorsprong op te bouwen van drie seconden, maar deze voorsprong slonk snel terug naar een seconde.

In de laatste ronde probeerde Michelisz van alles en kwam de Hongaar ook steeds dichter bij Lopez. Lopez hield het hoofd echter koel en wist de race met 0,435 seconde te winnen. Achter Lopez en Michelisz wist Tom Chilton de laatste podiumplek te pakken.

De top zes bestond verder uit Rob Huff, Bennani en Nick Catsburg. Sabine Schmitz, koningin van de Nordschleife en voor de gelegenheid toegevoegd aan het startveld, finishte de race op een elfde plaats. De volgende WTCC-races zijn in het weekend van 12 juni op de Moscow Raceway in Rusland.
