Dahlgren vervanger van Ekblom bij Volvo

Robert Dahlgren keert terug in het World Touring Car Championship. De 36-jarige Zweed neemt bij Polestar Volvo vanaf komend weekend in Vila Real het stokje over van Fredrik Ekblom, die zich vanaf nu zal richten op het ontwikkelingsprogramma van de S60.

Dahlgren verdedigt de rest van dit seizoen samen met Thed Björk de eer van Volvo tijdens de races. Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, hoofd motorsport bij Polestar Racing: "Het doel voor het WTCC-project voor dit jaar was om ons met twee auto's en drie rijders voor te bereiden op 2017."

"Als onderdeel van dat plan ruilt Robert nu van plek met Fredrik en voegt hij zich bij Thed. Ons plan en onze rijders hebben onze verwachtingen tot nu toe overtroffen, met meerdere top vijf-noteringen vroeg in ons eerste seizoen in het WTCC. We zijn vol vertrouwen dat onze aanpak werkt en we belanden nu in de volgende fase."
