Andy Priaulx scoort thuisoverwinning in tweede race Brands Hatch

Andy Priaulx heeft vandaag zijn vierde overwinning van het seizoen behaald op Brands Hatch. De Brit bleef in de tweede race een zeer sterk presterende Colin Turkington nipt voor. Gabriele Tarquini eindigde op de laatste podiumplaats.

Augusto Farfus startte de race vanaf de derde plaats, maar kwam goed uit de startblokken en nam meteen de leiding over van teamgenoot Andy Priaulx. De Brit pakte de eerste positie in de derde ronde echter weer over. In diezelfde actie wilde ook Alain Menu meteen voorbij aan Farfus, maar de twee coureur raakten elkaar. Menu moest met een kapotte stuurstang terug naar de pits, terwijl Farfus de race kon vervolgen.

Colin Turkington profiteerde van deze actie en nam de tweede positie over en bleef dicht achter Priaulx rijden. De Britse Independent-coureur bekroonde hiermee een erg sterk weekend met een prachtige tweede plaats. Gabriele Tarquini was de snelste SEAT-coureur op de derde stek, terwijl Tom Coronel na een solide race de vierde plaats pakte.

Yvan Muller en Rob Huff eindigden voor Chevrolet als vijfde en zesde. Muller kon gemakkelijk voorbij aan teammaat Huff, die geen tegenstand bood toen de kampioenschapsleider een inhaalactie plaatste. Norbert Michelisz eindigde als zevende, terwijl Farfus na de touché met Menu als achtste over de finish kwam. Michel Nykjaer eindigde net buiten de punten op de negende plaats, terwijl Jordi Gene een slecht weekend op de tiende stek afsloot. Tim Coronel reed de race in zijn privé-BMW uit op de vijftiende plaats.
