Augusto Farfus pakt pole position in verraderlijke omstandigheden

Augusto Farfus heeft zojuist in de kwalificatie voor de eerste WTCC-race op Oschersleben de pole position gepakt. De Braziliaan hield het hoofd koel op ene natte baan en bleef Chevrolet-coureur Rob Huff voor.

Alle 'grote' coureurs kwamen door het eerste kwalificatiedeel heen, maar vlak nadat Q2 was begonnen begon het te regenen in Oschersleben. Iedereen kwam snel naar buiten voor een vroeg rondje, maar al tijdens deze ronden begon het te regenen. BMW-coureurs Augusto Farfus en Andy Priaulx waren de snelste rijders na de eerste rondjes.

Veel andere coureurs hadden nog een tweede ronde nodig voor een snellere tijd, maar alleen Rob Huff wist zich nog te verbeteren. De Brit wrong zich tussen de BMW's in en pakte de tweede startplaats. Priaulx moet de tweede startrij delen met Alain Menu, gevolgd door Norbert Michelisz die de snelste SEAT-coureur was. Gabriele Tarquini, Tom Coronel, Yvan Muller en Jordi Gene pakten de startposities zes tot en met negen. Tiago Monteiro haalde het ook tot Q2, maar kon daarin geen ronde rijden, vanwege een crash op het einde van Q1.
