Chinese WTCC-ronde verhuist naar Ningbo

Het Chinese World Touring Car Championship-weekend vindt dit jaar niet op het circuit van Sjanghai plaats, maar op de nieuwe baan van Ningbo. De WTCC-leiding heeft dit nog niet bevestigd en de World Motor Sport Council van de FIA moet het nog bekrachtigen.

De verhuizing van de WTCC-ronde naar Ningbo blijkt uit de plannen voor het Chinees kampioenschap voor toerwagens en de Chinese Formule 4. Die raceklasses staan in het voorprogramma van de WTCC en zij maken melding van een evenement op Ningbo in oktober.

Sjanghai is sinds 2012 de vaste locatie voor de Chinese WTCC-races. Ningbo ligt in de provincie Zhejiang en Volvo-eigenaar Geely Group heeft geïnvesteerd in het circuit.
