Nick Catsburg gaat met Volvo voor de titel

Nick Catsburg heeft een uitstekend eerste weekend van het nieuwe World Touring Car Championship-seizoen achter de rug. De coureur van Volvo behaalde in Marrakech twee vierde plaatsen. In de hoofdrace kwam de Nederlander als vijfde over de meet, maar dat was na een tik van Mehdi Bennani. De Marokkaan werd daar later nog voor bestraft. Catsburg: "Terecht, het was overduidelijk wat hij deed."

De Nederlander bezet na het eerste weekend de derde plaats in het kampioenschap. Aan de Telegraaf laat hij weten dat hij zijn zinnen heeft gezet op de titel. "Het doel van Volvo en mij is om wereldkampioen te worden. Ik was vooraf nog wat terughoudend ten aanzien van die doelstelling, maar na de races in Marrakech weet ik zeker dat we mee gaan doen om de titel. In de aanloop hadden we al gezegd dat als we het op dat moeilijke stratencircuit in Marokko goed doen, dan gaan we het overal goed doen. En het is er echt heel erg goed gegaan voor ons. Zelf had ik een solide weekeinde en ik kijk nu al uit naar de volgende race op het circuit van Monza", aldus Catsburg.

Uiteraard ben ik voor Tom met de Chevy, maar Katsburg met de Volvo zou een regelrechte verrassing zijn! Mag ook.. dan wint er een Nederlander en zo chauvinistisch ben ik wel...
