Weekend Tom Coronel voorbij na bizarre crash

Tom Coronel zal zich het weekend in het Portugese Vilareal heel anders hebben voorgesteld. Na de eerste training zit het weekend van de Nederlandse WTCC-veteraan er helaas op. Coronel kon in de eerste vrije training niet meer remmen waardoor hij met de Chevrolet rechtdoor schoot en op een stilstaande brandweerauto botste.

Volgens Coronel werd de crash veroorzaakte omdat het wiel van naaf afkwam en dit zorgde er vervolgens voor dat de Nederlander niet meer kon remmen. Vanuit Portugal laat Coronel weten dat hem niets mankeert, maar dat de auto te zwaar beschadigd is om verder deel te nemen aan het weekend.

De volgende WTCC-races vinden plaats in Argentinië, Vanuit Spanje worden de bolides per schip getransporteerd naar het Latijns-Amerikaanse land. Coronel laat weten dat Campos heeft aangeboden de auto in Spanje te laten repareren. Coronel kon niets zeggen over eventuele gevolgen voor het weekend in Argentinië
