Zengo neemt afscheid van Aurelien Panis

Aurelien Panis is weg bij Zengo Motorsport. De Fransman vervolgt zijn leerjaar in een andere klasse dan het World Touring Car Championship, zo luidt de verklaring. Voor hem in de plaats komt de 21-jarige Zsolt David Szabo, die dit seizoen furore maakte in het Europese toerwagenkampioenschap. Op basis daarvan heeft Zengo besloten om de Hongaar over te hevelen naar het WTCC.

Zengo Motorsport-teambaas Zoltan Zengo: "Zsolt heeft indruk op ons gemaakt met zijn snelheid, zijn potentieel, zijn vaardigheid om nieuwe circuits snel onder de knie te krijgen en zijn mogelijkheden om zich snel aan nieuwe situaties aan te passen. Als team dat er trots uit schept om jonge talenten kansen te bieden doet het ons deugd om Zsolt de mogelijkheid te geven om zijn debuut te maken in het WTCC. We zijn benieuwd hoe hij het gaat doen. Het wordt een zware en harde leerschool, maar daar steekt hij wel weer veel van op en hij kan op alle benodigde steun rekenen om de overgang zo soepel mogelijk te laten verlopen."
