Yvan Muller WTCC-kampioen na succesvol beroep tegen BMW

Yvan Muller heeft zonder te rijden de titel in het World Touring Car Championship voor zich opgeëist. Zijn team Chervolet had beroep aangetekend tegen de versnellingsbakken die BMW-coureurs Andy Priaulx en Augusto Farfus in Okayama gebruikten.

Dat beroep is door de internationale autosportbond FIA gehonoreerd. De federatie schrapte de punten dat het duo in Japan scoorde, waardoor Priaulx de achterstand dit weekend in Macau niet meer goed kan maken. Het is na 2008 de tweede WTCC-titel voor de Fransman Muller.
