Rob Huff opent als snelste in Macau, Tom Coronel vierde

Rob Huff heeft tijdens de testsessie van het WTCC in Macau de snelste tijd gereden. De Britse Chevrolet-rijder was ruim drie tienden sneller dan teammaat Alain Menu. Tom Coronel kende een goede start in Macau met de vierde tijd en was daarmee tevens de snelste SEAT-coureur.

Meteen al na enkele seconden hing de eerste rode vlag uit en werd de training stilgelegd. Chan Kin Man en Andrei Romanov crashten beiden bij Hospital Bend de muur in. Met nog tien minuten te gaan in de sessie werd nogmaals de rode vlag uitgehangen toen Masaki Kano de muur inreed.

Rob Huff trok zich er echter niks van aan en was met een 2:33.120 niet te kloppen. Chevrolet-teamgenoot Alain Menu kwam 0.354 seconden tekort op Huff en eindigde als tweede. BMW-coureur Andy Priaulx reed naar de derde tijd, terwijl Tom Coronel sterk begonnen is aan het laatste WTCC-weekend van 2010 door een vierde tijd op de klokken te zetten. De Nederlander was de laatste coureur die nog binnen één seconde van Huff reed.

Yvan Muller, die afgelopen week achter de groene tafel tot kampioen is gekroond, reed de vijfde tijd, gevolgd door Tiago Monteiro en Augusto Farfus. Gabriele Tarquini kwam niet verder dan de achtste tijd, terwijl Norbert Michelisz en lokale held Andre Cauto de top-tien completeerden.

Franz Engstler was de snelste Independent-coureur op de elfde plaats. Hij bleef titelrivaal Darryl O'Young nog geen twee honderdsten voor.
