WTCC-kampioenen gehuldigd tijdens awards ceremonie

Enkele uren geleden zijn in Macau tijdens het traditionele eindejaarsfeest in de Macau Towers de kampioenen van 2010 gehuldigd. De top-drie van het kampioenschap kreeg hun trofee overhandigd, net als de beste rookie en natuurlijk de Independents-kampioen.

De feestelijke avond begon met het huldigen van de Advan Yokohama Independents-kampioen. Voor de tweede maal na 2008 mocht Sergio Hernandez zich de beste prive-rijder noemen. Zijn BMW-team Proteam kreeg de trofee voor het beste Independents-team.

Norbert Michelisz werd daarna gehuldigd als de beste rookie. De Hongaar won vandaag zijn eerste WTCC-race en eindigde het seizoen als beste debutant op de negende plaats in het kampioenschap. Chevrolet pakte vandaag met een dubbelzege in de eerste race de titel bij de constructeurs, waardoor Eric Nève, Chevrolet Motorsport Manager, de beker overhandigd kreeg.

Uiteindelijk werd de feestelijke avond afgesloten met het huldigen van de top-drie uit het rijderskampioenschap. Eerst kreeg Rob Huff (Chevrolet) de trofee voor de derde plaats uitgereikt, waarna Gabriele Tarquini (SEAT) werd beloond voor zijn tweede positie. Ten slotte kreeg Yvan Muller (Chevrolet) voor de twee maal in zijn carriére de beker voor WTCC-kampioen overhandigd.
