Monteiro mist Macau, Guerrieri zijn vervanger

Tiago Monteiro moet ook de World Touring Car Championship-ronde in Macau aan zich voorbij laten gaan. De Portugees is herstellende van de naweeën van een crash bij een test in Barcelona van eerder dit jaar. Hij ontbrak in China en Japan ook al bij het fabrieksteam van Honda.

Net als op Motegi zal Esteban Guerrieri in Macau de honneurs waarnemen voor Monteiro. In een verklaring laat Honda weten: "Na nieuwe medische onderzoeken in Portugal hebben de artsen Tiago verteld dat zijn lichaam meer tijd nodig heeft om volledig te herstellen."

"Dat houdt in dat hij zijn titel in de WTCC-race in Macau niet kan verdedigen. Guerrieri, die in Japan al voor Honda racete en bij zijn debuut een geweldige podiumplek in de wacht sleepte, zal Monteiro ook in Macau vervangen."

Monteiro: "Ik ben extreem teleurgesteld dat ik niet terug kan keren in Macau. De risico's bij een nieuwe impact op mijn lichaam zijn nog iets te groot, dus ik moet nog even wachten. Het enige dat ik kan doen is blijven trainen en ik hoop in Qatar weer van de partij te zijn."
