Rob Huff wint tweede race Macau, Tom Coronel keurig zesde

Rob Huff en het circuit van Macau zijn in het verleden al een gouden combinatie gebleken en in 2017 is dat opnieuw het geval. De Britse Citroën-coureur pakte een klinkende zege op het beroemde circuit en mag zich de meest succesvolle coureur ooit noemen van de Macau Grand Prix. Tom Coronel behaalde na zijn tweede plaats in de eerste race, opnieuw een prima resultaat door zesde te worden.

Huff mocht de race vanaf pole beginnen en overleefde de dadendrang van Honda-coureur Norbert Michelisz. Michelisz had wat goed te maken na zijn crash in de eerste race. De race startte achter de Safety Car, nadat het voor de race geregend had en het circuit op sommige stukken gevaarlijk glad was.

Na drie rondjes achter de Safety Car werd de race vrijgegeven en liet Michelisz zich meteen zien. De Hongaar zette zijn Honda een paar keer naast de Citroën van Huff, maar de Brit verdedigde keurig. Uiteindelijk maakte Michelisz een fout, waardoor Huff een veilige marge kon pakken en reed veilig naar de winst. Door de zege is Huff de meest succesvolle coureur ooit in Macau, de Brit heeft nu negen keer gewonnen.

Michelisz finishte als tweede, maar moest na een aanvalsdrift in de openingsfase meer in zijn spiegels kijken. Tom Chilton probeerde het een paar keer bij Michelisz,maar de Hongaar gaf niet thuis. Chilton finishte de race uiteindeijk als derde. Tom Coronel kon in de tweede race niet meedoen om de podiumplaatsen. De Nederlandse Chevrolet-coureur finishte als zesde en mag tevreden zijn met dat resultaat. Nick Catsburg kwam in zijn Volvo niet verder dan de dertiende plaats.

WOW, Ticktum wint de Macau GP nadat de top 2(Sete-Camara en Hapsburg) laatste bocht crashen.

  Wat een geweldige race was de F3 vanmorgen inderdaad! Zat er toevallig op tijd klaar voor, maar dit was echt de beste race die ik in jaren heb gezien. Die Sette Camara kon profiteren van het gevecht achter hem, maar toen Habsburg los was zag je dat die duidelijk niet de snelheid had om het af te maken. Die twee vochten zo fel, maar wel fair. Uiteindelijk crashen ze ook omdat ze allebei gewoon te veel wilden (en zonder elkaar te raken zelfs!) In ieder geval geweldig om te zien en heb er echt van genoten.

  klopt, ik vind vooral de inhaalactie van ticktum op norris die op zijn beurt ook een inhaalactie maakte zeer mooi zo in de laatste bocht. hij had wel wat geluk dat camara en hapsburg allebei crashen voor de finish.
