Opening WTCC-seizoen 2011 vindt op Interlagos plaats

Het World Touring Car Championship-seizoen 2011 begint definitief op Interlagos in plaats van op Curitiba. Dat bevestigde WTCC-promotor Marcello Lotti tegenover Autosport. Het circuit van Interlagos in Sao Paulo is bekend als gastheer van de Grand Prix van Brazilië.

Dat is echter niet de reden voor de aanpassing van de kalender. Lotti: De race zal op Interlagos plaatsvinden omdat we een overeenkomst gesloten hebben met de Braziliaanse Stock Car Series om in hetzelfde weekend te racen. Ik heb met de promotor van de Stock Cars gesproken en zij zullen hun race op zondag in de ochtend afwerken zodat wij onze gebruikelijke tijdschema kunnen hanteren. Het is zeer opwindend.
