Voormalig GP2-coureur Javier Villa debuteert voor Proteam

Javier Villa zal komend seizoen in actie komen in het WTCC, zo werd vandaag duidelijk. De 23-jarige Spanjaard reed vier jaar lang in de GP2 Series, maar verliet deze eind 2009 voor de Spaanse Mini Challenge. In 2011 racet hij voor Proteam in het WTCC.

Proteam, die met BMW's zal rijden, had eerder al Mehdi Bennani en Fabio Fabiani bevestigd voor 2011. Villa vertelde: "Dit is een geheel nieuw hoofdstuk in mijn carrière en daar haal ik veel motivatie uit. Het WTCC is samen met de Formule 1 en het WRC één van de drie officiële FIA-kampioenschappen. Verder is dit het meest belangrijke touringcarkampioenschap met merken zoals BMW, Chevrolet, SEAT en Volvo."
