Rob Huff leidt nieuwe 1-2-3 van Chevrolet, Coronel vierde

Rob Huff heeft opnieuw zijn leidende positie in het kampioenschap verder uitgebreid. De Britse coureur was in de eerste race op het circuit van Brno zijn teamgenoot Yvan Muller te snel af. Alain Menu zorgde voor een compleet Chevrolet-podium door Tom Coronel te verslaan.

Polesitter Muller kende een goede start, maar teamgenoot Huff kwam ook goed van zijn plaats. Buitenlangs in de eerste bocht liet Huff zijn Chevrolet staan, pakte daarmee de binnenkant van de tweede bocht en ging meteen voorbij aan Muller. De Fransman was daarna niet meer bij machten om zijn teammaat te passeren. Hij kon nog wel enkele ronden blijven pushen, maar koos daarna voor een zekere tweede plaats.

Een zekere tweede plaats, omdat Tom Coronel de rest van het veld daarachter lichtelijk ophield. Alain Menu kwam echter in de zevende ronde langszij en liep daarna nog een dikke seconde uit op de Nederlander. Coronel wist wel Kristian Poulsen achter zich te houden en pakte daarmee een keurige vierde positie. Poulsen eindigde als vijfde, gevolgd door Robert Dahlgren.

Darryl O'Young zette zijn goede lijn door met een zevende stek, maar de man van de race was toch wel Norbert Michelisz. De Hongaar moest achteraan starten nadat hij gisteren terug werd gezet. Michelisz was echter erg snel deze race en kwam als achtste over de streep. Javier Villa en Michel Nykjaer completeerden de top tien.

Gelukkig is die veldslag voor een coureur ook al een genot op zich. Ook al won ie de oorlog van vandaag niet :)
