Chevrolet ook in de regen van Donington onverslaanbaar

Rob Huff heeft het raceweekend in Donington met de snelste tijd in de eerste training geopend. De Britse Chevrolet-coureur bleef teamgenoot Yvan Muller ruim twee tienden voor in een sessie die onder natte omstandigheden werd verreden.

De training begon onder hevige regen, maar Huff wist zich al snel aan kop van de tijdenlijst te plaatsen. Yvan Muller nam kort de eerste plaats over toen de condities zich verbeterde, maar Huff reageerde met een 1:51.058 en daar kwam uiteindelijk niemand meer aan. Tiago Monteiro en Robery Dahlgren volgden als derde en vierde, maar moesten al 1,2 seconden toegeven op de tijd van Huff.

Pepe Oriola, de jongste coureur in het WTCC, kon de hele training meekomen met de kop en eindigde uiteindelijk als vijfde met een achterstand van 1,7 seconden. Alain Menu, Michel Nykjaer en Tom Coronel completeerden de top acht.
