Tom Coronel: "Ik ben blij dat het eindelijk gelukt is dit jaar"

Tom Coronel behaalde vandaag zijn eerste overwinning van het seizoen in het WTCC. De Nederlander was in de tweede race alle Chevrolet's te snel af en natuurlijk was hij na afloop van de race tevreden over het resultaat.

Bij de start van de tweede race ging Coronel er gelijk vandoor. Chevrolet coureur Yvan Muller zat gelijk op de bumper van de BMW coureur, maar Coronel had de Fransman de hele race onder controle. "Ik was sterker bij het uitkomen van de laatste bocht voor het rechte stuk. De eerste bocht is de enige plek waar je echt kunt inhalen. Daarop hem ik me geconcentreerd en heb Muller geen kans gegeven om er voorbij te komen. Ik ben blij dat het eindelijk gelukt is dit jaar. We waren er al een aantal maal dichtbij en het team heeft er keihard voor gewerkt. Vandaag was het duidelijk onze beurt", aldus een dolgelukkige Coronel.
