Stefano D'Aste na jaar afwezigheid terug in WTCC

Stefano D'Aste keert komend seizoen na een afwezigheid van één jaar terug naar het WTCC. De Italiaanse coureur reed eerder al voor Proteam en Wiechers in de toerwagenklasse, maar reed vorig jaar in de GT4. Het laatstgenoemde team heeft D'Aste gestrikt voor een compleet seizoen in 2012.

"Ik ben erg blij dat ik terug kan keren naar het WTCC", vertelde D'Aste. "Het racen voor Lotus in de GT4 was leuk, maar het WTCC is toch een heel ander kampioenschap en dat miste ik toch wel. Het zal geen gemakkelijk begin van het seizoen worden, want we reizen naar Monza zonder te testen. We hebben echter een goede auto (BMW 320 TCs, red), een sterk team en ik heb vertrouwen in de mensen om mij heen."
