Tom Coronel bestraft met 30 seconden na aanvaring

Tom Coronel is zijn achtste positie van de eerste WTCC-race in Slowakije kwijt geraakt. De Nederlander had zich opgewerkt van de dertiende startplaats naar de achtste stek aan de finish, maar is na afloop bestraft met dertig seconden.

Coronel werd door de wedstrijdleiding als schuldige aangewezen van de crash van Franz Engstler. De Duitser spinde en raakte ook Charles Ng nog. Engstler kwam niet aan de finish, terwijl Ng de race met schade aan zijn auto nog wist uit te rijden. Coronel valt hierdoor terug naar de veertiende plaats. Yvan Muller krijgt hierdoor een extra punt in handen, waardoor hij nu een voorsprong heeft van 27 punten op Rob Huff en 28 op Alain Menu.
