Honda contracteert Tarquini en Monteiro als coureurs voor 2013

Honda heeft Gabriele Tarquini en Tiago Monteiro aangetrokken als rijders voor het World Touring Car Championship-project. De Japanse autofabrikant treedt volgend jaar toe tot het toerwagenkampioenschap met een volledig programma met de Civic en legde dus twee ervaren coureurs vast. Eind dit jaar verschijnt Honda al aan de start van een paar races.

Honda-motorsportbaas Hideo Sato: "We zijn verguld om Gabriele terug te hebben (Tarquini reed eind jaren negentig van de vorige eeuw met een Honda in het BTCC, red.) en om Tiago binnen de Honda-familie te verwelkomen. Beiden hebben een verleden in de Formule 1 en hebben vaak bewezen tot de absolute top in de toerwagens te behoren. We zijn overtuigd dat deze twee rijders bij gaan dragen aan het succes van de Honda Civic in het WTCC."
