Alain Menu en Stefano D'Aste zegevieren op Suzuka

Alain Menu voerde vanochtend in de eerste race in Japan een treintje van het trio Chevrolet-fabriekscoureurs aan. De Zwitser leidde van start tot finish en won voor teamgenoten Yvan Muller en Rob Huff. Gabriele Tarquini was de beste van de rest.

De tweede race viel ten prooi aan Stefano D'Aste in de BMW. De Italiaan profiteerde optimaal van de omgedraaide startopstelling. Seat-rijder Pepe Oriola en Tarquini mochten met D'Aste mee naar het podium op Suzuka.

Tom Coronel verlaat Japan met acht punten. In race 1 finishte hij als zesde. In de tweede wedstrijd speelde hij een bijrol. De strijd om het kampioenschap is onverminderd spannend. Muller en Huff staan allebei op 345 punten. Coronel bezet de vijfde plek met 172 punten.
