Chevrolet heerst als vanouds, punten voor Coronel

Chevrolet heeft zich terug getrokken als fabrieksteam, maar in het openingsweekend van het World Touring Car Championship 2013 was het toch vooral Chevrolet dat de klok sloeg. Yvan Muller won beide races op Monza. Gabriele Tarquini was met een derde plek in race twee de enige niet-Chevrolet op het podium dit weekend.

Tom Coronel had zich de start van het nieuwe World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) seizoen iets anders voorgesteld. De 40-jarige coureur sleepte op een doorweekt circuit van Monza in Italië een negende en elfde plaats in de wacht. Eerder was hij in de BMW 320 TC van ROAL Motorsport tijdens de kwalificaties uiteindelijk niet verder gekomen dan een 14e startplaats voor beide races.
