Tom Coronel toch met vertrouwen naar Marrakech

Tom Coronel kijkt niet met al te veel genoegdoening terug op het eerste weekend van het World Touring Car Championship-seizoen 2013. Met de coureur van ROAL Motorsport in de BMW ging het moeizaam op het kletsnatte Monza, terwijl Chevrolet ouderwets de lakens uitdeelde.

Toch ziet de Nederlander nog wat lichtpuntjes waardoor het gedurende deze jaargang steeds beter zou moeten gaan, te beginnen volgende week in Marrakech. "Ik was de snelste BMW in race 1 op Monza, maar we besloten toch de set-up wat aan te passen en dat pakte goed uit."

"In race 2 was ik anderhalve seconde per rondje sneller. We weten dat we werk te doen hebben, maar we weten ook dat we na twee ronden over mogen stappen op deuren van karbon. Dat scheelt 20 kilo en elk beetje telt. We gaan vol vertrouwen naar Marokko!", aldus Coronel.
