Thompson boos op Monje na aanvaring in Marrakech

Lada-coureur James Thompson heeft geen goed woord over voor het rijgedrag van SEAT-collega Fernando Monje van afgelopen weekend. Monje beukte Thompson in race 2 van de baan en ontving daarvoor ook een grid penalty voor het volgende weekend, in Slowakije. Maar daarmee is niet alles vergeven en vergeten.

De woede bij Thompson zit diep. "Het is gewoon jammer. Fernando heeft me in beide races meerdere tikjes gegeven, dat is gewoon onnodig. In de tweede wedstrijd knalde hij met opzet van achteren tegen me aan, dat is niet te rechtvaardigen want hij probeerde me niet te passeren. Het is niet alleen onprofessioneel, op deze wijze is hij een gevaar voor zichzelf en iedereen om hem heen. Deze auto's zijn geen speeltjes, het is een gevaarlijke sport. Het is goed dat de stewards in hebben gegrepen, hopelijk realiseert Fernando zo snel mogelijk dat dit verkeerd was."
