Izawa krijgt voor Suzuka de beschikking over een Honda

Takuya Izawa debuteert op 22 september in Japan in het World Touring Car Championship. Honda stelt op Suzuka een Civic beschikbaar voor de leider in het Japans Super GT-kampioenschap. De 30-jarige Japanner is opgeleid door de Suzuka Circuit Racing School

Izawa: "Ik wil iedereen bij Honda, het team van JAS en van het WTCC bedanken voor deze mogelijkheid om op Suzuka te racen. Ik heb vorig jaar al eens voor JAS getest in Portugal en het professionalisme dat ik daar aantrof inspireerde me echt. Ik verheug me er op om het tegen rijders van wereldklasse op te nemen. Ik kan me voorstellen dat het niet makkelijk is om meteen mooie resultaten neer te zetten, maar dit is een nieuw avontuur voor me en ik weet zeker dat deze ervaring me gaat helpen in het verdere verloop van mijn carrière."
